The YWD Funding objective is to empower the economic emancipation of the previously disadvantaged Youth, Women, and Persons living with disabilities in the Northern Cape who are in business.
Frances Baard Funding Handover
Frances Baard District municipality was the first to launch the YWD funding handover which was done by the Premier of Northern Cape Dr. Zamani Saul, together with the MEC responsible for Youth, Women, People with Disabilities, Communication, and e-Government, MEC Venus Blennies did the hand over funding to beneficiaries.
ZF Mgcawu Funding Handover
At the ZF Mgcawu District Municipality, the YWD fund was combined with the TREP.
What is TREP Funding?
The Township and Rural Empowerment Programmes (TREP) supports informal, micro, and small businesses and cooperatives in the rural and township economies.

On the 27th of May 2024, it was Kuruman’s turn it was the last stop for the YWD equipment and cheques where 200+ local small businesses were empowered.
- 117 women-owned businesses
- 68 Youth women-owned businesses
- 13 Youth males
- 5 Persons with disabilities

Leaving no one left behind with the YWD funding handover because all the districts here visited to boost the Northern Cape small businesses.
What is YWD funding?
YWD Funding was launched on 31 August 2023, Thursday at 09:00 at Flamingo View in Kimberley by the premier of the Northern Cape Dr. Zamani Saul.
The purpose of the YWD fund was to accelerate the socio-economic opportunities and empowerment for YWD (Youth, Women, and Persons with disabilities) through funding with opportunities.
At the YWD Indaba and fund launch the premier said the goal of the Northern Cape Province is to:
- Modernize the Northern Cape Province
- Grow the Northern Cape Province
- Make Northern Cape a successful province

Conclusion
In conclusion the YWD funding handover upfillied the small businesses of the Northern Cape. One of the challenges small business have is lack of resources and funding and the YWD funding opportunities did exactly that.
Giving relieve and helping the growth of the small business is helping the growth of the Northern Cape province.
